Prevelly.

The coastal town of Prevelly earned its name when Australian soldier Geoffrey Edwards was captured during the battle of Crete in World War II. He was later given refuge in the Preveli monastery along with hundreds of other Australian troops. When he relocated to the Margaret River Region in the 1950s, he instigated the construction of the whitewashed Greek chapel named St John the Theologian Chapel perched on a hill and was instrumental in the town's development by building a holiday park.

Prevelly was gazetted as a town in 1978, and is home to around 200 residents, many who live here part-time and rent out their coastal homes to tourists seeking seaside adventures and trekkers on the Cape to Cape trek passing through Prevelly. Surfers Point is a premier surf spot and home to the annual Margaret River Pro.

Spanning approximately two square kilometres, the mouth of Margaret River sits at the north of the region and hugs the coast to Gnarabup Beach. Apart from a few cafes and holiday accommodation, the residents usually head to Busselton, Dunsborough and the Margaret River township for dining, amenities and shopping.
