Picton.

Located in the Wollondilly region of Sydney’s south-west, Picton is a town where history, countryside and community remain closely connected. Long regarded as one of the Macarthur region's most distinctive communities, it enjoys a semi-rural setting with the services and amenities needed for modern living.

The heart of the town is centred on Argyle Street, where heritage shopfronts, cafés and local businesses contribute to a well-established main street environment. Nearby Menangle Street is one of the town's best-known residential addresses, valued for its established homes, leafy outlook and easy access to the town centre.

The Picton Botanic Gardens, Stonequarry Creek and the heritage-listed railway viaduct are among its most recognisable landmarks. The town is also known for the Mushroom Tunnels, a decommissioned railway tunnel repurposed for mushroom farming, and its longstanding reputation as one of Australia's most haunted locations. Local community venues such as De Nada Coffee, Picton Social, Moses Barnes, the Picton Bowling Club and the historic George IV Inn also provide places for people to meet, dine and connect.

Housing throughout the area reflects Picton’s evolution over time. Character cottages and traditional homesteads sit alongside established family homes, acreage properties and newer residential developments, offering a diverse range of property options.

While Sydney continues to expand, Picton continues to attract those seeking a balance between country living, housing affordability and urban accessibility, as it’s about an hour’s drive to the CBD. It offers a slower paced lifestyle that feels removed from the city, while remaining connected to it.
