Palm Cove.
Beautiful year-round, this stunning stretch of coastline in Far North Queensland is a destination within itself. Perfectly positioned between Port Douglas and Cairns, Palm Cove is a resort town along the shores of the Coral Sea. Bounded by the lush tropics of Macalister Range National Park on one side, and a patrolled swimming beach to the other, this slice of paradise pulls out all the stops.
The relaxed seaside village boasts world-class facilities, with an impressive line-up of boutique shopping, as well as cafes and restaurants which serve multicultural cuisine made from ocean-fresh seafood, and where possible, locally-sourced produce. And all with views over the palm-fringed esplanade and out to Double Island and the pristine waters of the Coral Sea.
The esplanade is well worn with joggers, walkers and cyclists, and the Palm Cove Jetty is one of the regions favoured fishing spots. Tourism operators are in abundance, offering day-trips out to the Great Barrier Reef and up to Daintree Rainforest. And to mix things up a little, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, white water rafting, horse riding, hot air ballooning, all-terrain vehicles, deep sea and reef fishing are all on offer.
And although Palm Cove is predominately a resort town, it also has a community who embraces Palm Cove’s dreamy tropical lifestyle year-round. A short 25-minute drive from Cairns City, locals, have all the conveniences of a large city at their fingertips. And while there are no schools in Palm Cove as such, neighbouring Kewarra Beach, Trinity Beach and Smithfield cater well to growing families.
