Drouin.

The welcoming town of Drouin is set amid the picturesque rolling hills of West Gippsland. It offers a relaxed country lifestyle that is popular with young families, retirees and tree changers, who appreciate the community atmosphere, beautiful natural surrounds and easy access to city, snow or sea. Just over an hour’s commute to Melbourne’s CBD, Drouin feels a long way from the hustle and bustle of the city yet has all the modern amenities required for lifestyle ease.

Drouin is known for its many giant trees, and for the Ficofolia (or flowering gums) that abound in the local streets. There’s even a festival in February each year celebrating these magnificent flowering trees. Nature lovers can also visit the local Drouin Nature Reserve, with 14 hectares of natural bush land and walking tracks. There’s excellent sporting and recreational facilities around Drouin too, including Bellbird Park with its sporting complex and ovals, an 18-hole golf course, plus local cricket, football, netball and tennis clubs. Pakenham racecourse and Gumbuya World Theme Park are also near enough for a quick thrill-packed visit.

In recent years the town has grown, with new residential estates providing families an affordable and attractive alternative to suburban blocks. Others are drawn to older homes on larger blocks, with room for a pool and shed or studio. Many artists and growers make the area their home and share their work each month at the Drouin Craft and Produce Market held in Civic Park. Drouin is located within the Gourmet Deli Trail which consists of a network of farms, vineyards and outlets selling local produce and smallgoods. Popular wineries include Ripplebrook Winery and Kouark Winery & Vineyard. For stocking up on essentials, Westfield Fountain Gate only 30 minutes away by car.

Drouin is a place for all seasons, with reliable rainfall, beautiful autumn leaves, warm summers and cool winters. The laidback country vibe is complemented by easy access to shopping and services in town or at nearby Warragul.
