Campbelltown sits in Sydney’s south-west and has grown from one of the region’s earliest planned settlements into an established and well-connected centre within the Macarthur region. Its origins date back to the colonial era, with the town named by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in honour of his wife Elizabeth Macquarie, whose maiden name was Campbell.

The Western Sydney University campus is a significant presence locally, with teaching and research strengths across health, medicine, nursing, science, business, law and education.
