Melbourne and Mitchell Shire restrictions: the reintroduction of (not so) new online property services.

With stage three restrictions back into effect in Melbourne and some surrounding suburbs, the local property market is transitioning smoothly back to digital and online property services, with positive results still coming out of the state.

“The great news is, we are seeing buyer and seller confidence remain steady during this second round of restrictions in Melbourne,” says Peter Hanscomb, CEO of Belle Property and Hockingstuart.

“This is brilliant to see because we know we can continue to help our clients that are looking to buy, sell or rent with plenty of digital options to keep everyone safe.”

With five weeks of restrictions still to come for those in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, here, we look at the transition back to online and what this means for buyers and sellers in these areas.

What restrictions mean for buyers

From last Wednesday 8 July, public on-site auctions have been banned as well as open homes returning to one-on-one, private inspections only.

“Although stay at home orders are in place, if you’re looking to buy, you can still access a multitude of online and virtual options on website property listings, or you can reach out to your local agent to find out more about one-on-one private viewings,” says Peter.

What restrictions mean for sellers

If you are already in the process of selling or were thinking of selling soon, there are plenty of options to assist in your sale campaign.

“Online auctions have become a very normal part of real estate services and our agents are well versed in private inspections, so if you were looking to sell, rest assured that your property will be viewed safely and you can still achieve your goals,” says Peter.

How we can help

“Most of our agents have continued to offer both traditional and online property services to ensure our clients are as comfortable as possible – even when restrictions were loosened. Take Toby Parker, Principal of Belle Property Balwyn for example, who has been using a hybrid model of onsite and online auctions this whole time,” says Peter.

“Basically, we are raring and ready to go and everything is already in place to be able to help you, so don’t be spooked by the changes, get in touch with your local agent or office and chat about what services might work for you.”
