Nestled between Grange and West Beach, Henley Beach brings quiet coastal living to Adelaide’s suburban fringe.
Just 20 minutes west of Adelaide City by car, Henley Beach offers urban convenience with an unmatched beachside lifestyle. Running the length of the suburb, the star attraction is its beach; a stunning sandy strip perfect for weekend activities with the kids. The beach’s picturesque wooden jetty and beachside dining scene begs for long afternoon walks followed by a laidback dinner at the iconic Ramsgate Hotel.
The hub of the area, Henley Square, has been recently updated and features a number of cafes and restaurants to choose from as well as family-friendly play spaces. Spend each Saturday perusing the Organic and Sustainable Market held in Henley Beach Primary School. Some of the stall highlights include artisan gelato, organic espresso coffee and fresh local produce. Across the road from Henley Square, the Henley Square Pavilion has numerous dining options and a curated range of retail stores.
With such a significant stretch of coast, Henley Beach is perfect both for long relaxing walks or more demanding hikes. South of Henley Beach is popular Glenelg – another beach suburb known as a thriving tourist destination with a lively social scene. The 35-kilometre Athelston to Henley Beach walk offers incredible scenery along the banks of the Torrens River. If the distance seems a bit of a stretch, parking is available at regular intervals the track is also bike friendly.
This tight-knit community truly offers the best of both worlds; maintaining a small town atmosphere while boasting all the benefits of an idyllic beachside suburb.
