Helensburgh.
Located halfway between Sydney and Wollongong, Helensburgh is a peaceful place to call home. It’s on the outskirts of the Royal National Park and surrounded by beautiful bushlands.
Helensburgh residents have the best of both worlds: they enjoy the country town feel and sense of community, yet have easy access to the Princes Highway and Southern Freeway to travel to Wollongong or the Sutherland Shire. There are a string of quiet beaches close by, and plenty of parks and playgrounds in the area – Helensburgh Park, Charles Harper Park and Rex Jackson Park are local favourites. Specialty shops are dotted around the suburb, while larger complexes are in nearby Bulli, Stanwell Park and Corrimal. Hanley’s Hotel and Centennial Hotel are go-to entertainment spots, and vibrant events are held throughout the year.
The suburb has several schools, including Holy Cross Primary School and Helensburgh Public School, with many more within a five-kilometre radius. For tertiary students, Wollongong University is a train ride or 30-minute drive away.
Helensburgh is serviced by a few bus routes, and its railway station conveniently sits on the South Coast Railway Line, which connects Sydney to Wollongong.
