Lush, green Camberwell is an affluent pocket of Melbourne that has long been favoured by the city’s well-to-do. A picture of suburban bliss, Camberwell has charming period homes (naturally, some of which come complete with white picket fences), a healthy café culture and a buzzing shopping strip.


The leafy streets of Camberwell, with their large homes and eternally blossoming gardens, are a veritable paradise for families. One of Melbourne’s most expensive suburbs, it offers a quality of life that the city’s elite just can’t get enough of. And it’s not hard to see why.

The coffee is ever-flowing, the parks are green, there are prestigious schools and a strong sense of community pervades. Parking is another story, but nowhere’s perfect. Buzzing Burke Road is the suburb’s main artery for social and commercial purposes and offers countless boutique stores and a thriving café scene. The jewel in its crown is the beautiful Art Deco Rivoli Cinema, where locals catch the latest blockbusters and indie releases. And if high street fashion and homewares aren’t what you’re looking for – the weekly Camberwell Market is a treasure trove of rare finds that draws people from across the city.

The one thing Camberwell doesn’t have much of, is night life. In fact, until very recently it was one of Melbourne’s last designated ‘dry’ areas. Things have loosened up a bit, with local restaurants gaining liquor licences – much to their delight. Just don’t expect any late-night revelry from this wholesome community.  However, you’re 10 kilometres from city – it doesn’t really matter.

The Market

Camberwell is home to some of the most expensive and sought-after real estate in Melbourne – everyone wants to own a piece of suburban paradise. 

Green, spacious and not too far from the city, its streets are littered with beautiful houses from the Victorian and Edwardian eras with beautiful gardens to match. While there are a number of newer town houses and apartment buildings popping up, development is closely monitored in this active community. 

Peaceful, safe, friendly and packed with all the amenities, transport and shopping a growing family could ever need – it’s no wonder that property in Camberwell is such a fiercely-guarded commodity.
